Land a generic DDC controller the way you would in the field — power it from a transformer, drop sensors and outputs, and click terminal-to-terminal to run the wire. Get it right and the points read live; get it wrong and it fails the way real hardware fails — a sensor goes open, an actuator sits dead, the fuse pops. The 4–20 mA transmitter is DC loop-powered: land its + on the controller's LOOP+ terminal (its internal 24 VDC loop supply), not the 24 VAC hot leg — put it on the hot leg and the point faults, the same way real hardware won't drive a loop off AC. The wiring bench needs a mouse and room to drag — open this page on a laptop or desktop to land a controller, drop field devices, and run wires terminal-to-terminal. A finger can't both drag a device and pan the canvas, so it's pointer-only by design. Here's what it teaches, so the trip back pays off:
- Power first. Land the transformer's hot leg on 24V~ and its common on 24COM before anything else — every powered device and output references that common.
- Sensors are two wires to a UI. A 10K thermistor lands on a universal input plus the signal common; set the input type (R / V / mA) to match the device, or the reading is garbage.
- Know your transmitter. A 2-wire 4–20 mA transmitter is DC loop-powered — its + comes off the controller's LOOP+ terminal and it sits in series with the loop; a 3-wire 0–10 V transmitter needs its own power, common, and signal.
- Outputs split two ways. An analog output drives a separately-powered actuator — signal and signal-common carry the command. A binary output is just a dry contact that switches an external load, like a fan contactor fed from the hot leg.
- Wrong landings fail like real hardware. A dead short across hot and common pops the fuse; a sensor returned to the wrong terminal reads open; an unpowered actuator sits dead.

Click a terminal, then a second terminal, to run a wire between them. Click a wire to select it, then press Delete to remove it. Esc cancels a half-made wire. Drag a device by its title bar; select it and press Delete to remove it.
